We all know how it goes. You have weeks to plan something, but you wait until the last minute. It happens to the best of us. Your Treo™ Fiesta House Party is in four days, and in case you haven’t finished preparing for your bash, here are some quick and easy tips.

First, make sure all of your guests have RSVP’d. If they haven’t, send them a reminder here. As a matter of fact, you might want to send your guests a reminder that the party is coming up anyway. And, if they offer to bring a dish, take them up on it. Next, you’ll want to make sure you’ve chosen the menu for the party. Check out the Cinco de Mayo recipe forum for great tasty treats. Most importantly, make sure your phones are fully charged and that you’ve activated your trials of Handmark® Pocket Express™ and MobiTV® so that everyone can check it out party day and take part in the Treo Trivia Tour sweepstakes to win one of their own! Plus, you’ll need your smartphone to take photos and videos at your party.

I don’t often forget stuff, but sometimes things slip my mind. For example, I’ll leave the chicken in the oven too long or I’ll forget to TiVo “Battlestar Galactica.” Thankfully, my smartphone makes sure that never happens anymore thanks to its handy voice memos! This feature is definitely helping out while I plan my Treo™ Fiesta House Party.

If you have a PalmOS device, just go to Applications, select Voice Memo, press and hold the Side button while you record. After you’re done, just release the Side button. You can also enter a title for your memo to help you locate it in the future.  Oh, and if you’re using a Windows Mobile device, it’s just as easy: press start, select Programs, and Notes. To add a recording to a note, open the note you want to add it too. To create a new note altogether, press Menu and select View Recording Toolbar. Select the red record icon to start.

Can you believe how fast time is flying? I mean seriously I feel like I met you all yesterday.  It’s been your pleasure. Ha! Get it?

OK, anyway, I’m back with some other cool tips for using your Treo™ smartphone. Did you know you can actually run a slideshow of the pictures you have saved on your phone? You just go to Application, select Pics & Video, highlight or select the album you want to view, and simply press spacebar to start the slideshow. Press Center on the five-way button to end the show.  This could come in handy at your party. Take lots of festive photos, and capture your Cinco de Mayo magic forever.  Let me tell you this smartphone is the best thing since sliced bread, and coming from me, that’s a big deal because I enjoy a nice, tasty sandwich.  I also enjoy quiche, but that has nothing to do with anything. Cinco de Mayo is all about celebrating Mexican heritage, and celebrating in general so break out the nachos and nine-layer dip, make a salsa-errific mix tape, and whip up some strong margaritas. Hey people… My Treo Fiesta House Party is going to be the bomb. My boyfriend just hired a mariachi band to play in our living room. How crazy is that? I’m totally psyched. My friend Tara is so jealous because her Cinco de Mayo party is going to be so lame. She’s been calling me, and asking if she could come to my party with her friends, and I was like “as if”, but finally, I caved in because no one should miss out on all the Treo fun.

If you’re like me, you’re like that talking robot from that beloved 1980s classic “Short Circuit": you need more “input.” Thankfully, I’m constantly learning new things about my smartphone. Like did you know you can set up photo caller ID? How cool is that?

Every time my friend Chuck calls me, I can see a picture of him wearing a sombrero. He’s obviously psyched for Cinco de Mayo! It’s easy: just enter a name or phone number in the Contacts list, and select the entry you want to open. Click Edit (if you have Windows Mobile, you may need to press Menu first), and select the picture icon. From there, you select Camera to take a photo or select an existing picture from the Photos section. (If you have Windows Mobile device, click Thumbnail View.) Either way, click OK and you’re good to go. Treo™ smartphone has so many functions, I’ve decided to clear my plans to explore them. I’ll be back soon with more cool tips.

Hi, Jake here. Throughout your online experience, I’ll be offering you tips and advice – free of charge. Not to brag or anything, but I’m kind of a party animal so you’re in good hands. From time to time, my chess club pals and I get together for charades and reruns of “Murder She Wrote.”
