Not just about a house party

Even though i got chosen for this party, this is one that will have a different effect.  There is so much child hunger in countries, but lets not forget within our 50 states.   I wouldnt just stop with having this house party, i will carry this with assisting at soup kitchens.

Enjoy your party everyone!

http://www.conagrafoods.com/consumer/recipes/recipe.jsp?action=recipe&recipeid=2793&view=view this is another option there using Conagra foods that we will be taste testing to make sure the kiddos love it before we package the bags. I am sending each guest on my list a diffrent one to try out and then to bring the ingredients for the bag to the party. Our pastor is excited over this idea and has said we can add a special board with the new recipes and what people can bring to help out as well

The following is from this link: http://www.conagrafoods.com/consumer/recipes/recipe.jsp?action=recipe&recipeid=3321&view=view Creamy chicken tortilla Soup Ingredients 2 cans (10 oz each) Ro*Tel® Original Diced Tomatoes & Green Chilies, undrained 2 cans (14 oz each) chicken broth 1 can (16 oz each) Rosarita® No Fat Traditional Refried Beans 1/2 cup drained canned whole kernel corn 2 cups shredded cooked chicken Fried corn tortilla strips or chips, optional Shredded Monterey Jack cheese, optional Directions Combine undrained tomatoes and broth in medium saucepan. Stir in beans and corn; bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add chicken; heat through. Serve topped with tortilla strips and cheese, if desired. I think I will see if with a few slight changes w can turn this into one of our Special ConAgra bags we will be collecting and if the taste testers like it then it may become part of the rotation. One thing to make it bag friendly is we will try it with canned chicken so that all the ingredients can be in the bag :) We will also add biscut mix and a can of juice as well as shelf long lasting milk. The dessert item will most likely be pudding cups with a can of fruit.

there are 15 rotating recipes used some are seasonal like 5 can bean soup and salmon cakes. She puts up a board with the main ingredients needed and people just take the tag she has them color coded and purchase the item returning with the tag (hopefully) attached and placed in a waiting basket. Once a month she collects the items packages them and if any food is missing she either purchases it from donated cash or holds that bag back for the next month if too much is missing. Our church has been doing 12 or so complete meals a month and a few bags of assorted stuff. The food pantry loves them as many times the people asking for help get such a hodgepodge of stuff that a complete meal is hard to make out of what they have to give them. Anyone who wants all the info I have on this let me know I will try and get it to you

Menu Chicken & Stuffing Bake Recipe included Selection of canned vegetables Rice Biscuits Pudding and canned fruit Juice Long life milk this would be placed with the recipe needed to make the meal on a reusable shopping bag she says she ties them on with curling ribbon to close the bag handles and keep everything inside. She would then give suggestions on how to stretch the food into a second meal like saying if you have eggs you can also use a portion of the biscut mix to make a breakfast of pancakes in the morning. this is the recipe needed: Chicken and Stuffing Bake 1 Pkg {6oz} stuffing mix for chicken Canned Chicken for 4 15oz can peas & or corn & or carrots 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup 8oz Velveeta cheese cubed Prepare stuffing mix as directed on package. Add drained chicken, & two cans of vegetables, drained, Soup and velveeta cheese. Spoon into a greased 2 qt baking dish Bake in pre heasted oven at 350 F / gas mark 4. For 30 mins until bubbling and slightly brown on top. Serves 4 everything needed minus the few staple pantry items like salt and pepper are put in the bag. She also said she tries to make a party bag once a month in case someone needs a birthday cake for thier child. In that bag goes a plastic tablecloth, small package of birthday plates, napkins, plastic tableware (she gets at dollar store) one package of party favors and a box of cake mix and frosting with a pack of candles.

This would be a great school project for my daughters school. I am going to talk with her teacher about doing this for a class project along with the principal to see if we can get the whole school involved. I love the idea of collecting food for our local pantry. I also love someone's idea of making up bags of recipes and ingredients to help out also. What an awesome idea!!! My daughters class already collected canned food for our local pantry for Christmas i hope i can get the teacher to jump on board to do it again!!

I have had to use our local food pantry and I always look for opportunities where I can spread the word and help with this ever growing issue. I used to be a cub scout den leader and I had our little guys collecting for community on several occasions.

I organize a Playgroup on meetup.com and this is a great opportunity to get our group involved with the community as well as teaching our children how to prevent child hunger! I am so excited that we received such a wonderful gift that we can pass on to others!
