Start Planning Your Party

June 1st will be here before you know it. It’s time to shift into gear for your Ice Road Truckers party. Questions to be considering now:

  • What should I serve? Maybe barbecue or heroes? Of course, there’s always COLD cuts and FROZEN drinks!
  • How am I going to decorate? Toy trucks? Posters from last season? Pictures of favorite characters?
  • What activities should I plan before and after the sneak-peek DVD?
  • What “extras” will make the party more fun?
What are you planning for your party?

We will be having snowcones/Iceys/slushys. It is an Ice Road Truckers party after all. ;) This is always a hit and you can feel safe using it as an activity for kids old enough to pour from a gallon of milk. We let kids come up with their own flavor mixtures and shake them up. There is always a snow cone making table set up by the pool when we BBQ. I think the flavor concocting and mixing them up is as fun for the kids as eating them. This cheap and fun activity is always a winner. I posted my snow cone syrup recipe in the resource section. http://www.houseparty.com/resources/view/1941

Hey fellow truckers... I contacted my local Albertsons and they agreed to make a sheet cake of snow and icy road and I will be putting a semi truck in the middle of it. Gonna be a white cake with yummy filling! Gonna put numbers in a bowl and then as guests come in, they are gonna draw one, hang on to it until the preview is over and we'll have a door prize drawing for all the cool things we got to share with everyone! Lots of good food, yummy cold slushies or drinks and awesome company!

My guests are all bringing covered dishes. I put hot wheels semi trucks and ice tray molds (ice trays that make ice in cool shapes) in the goody bags. My daughter (16) is a born grilling prodigy, so she is grilling out the meat. If it doesn't rain, we're moving the tv outside, maybe to the bed of my truck like a backwards drive-in--movie in the truck instead of us watching from the bed of the truck lol

kornchic79.. your party sounds like fun!! We are doing a trivia game also, but we made questions based on the ice road. I started making ice road signs to put in the party room. (I got the info on the internet.. so the signs are copies of actual road signs seen on or near and ice road) I am making a cake that looks like a semi truck. It's going to be so big that I'm using my 8" cake pans for the wheels! All of my guests are bringing a dish.. while I will be serving appetizers.. nachos, chicken tenders, and of course, shrimp cooked on the grill with different sauces. We will have snowcones to eat while watching the DVD.

golden, I am hungry now, lol! I plan on serving up up BBQ ribs, terriyaki burgers with mushrooms, corn on the cob, macncheez, and potato salad. I have a ball that the kids can kick around and it makes homemade ice cream, so we will have some homemade strawberry ice cream afterwards! I am thinking about getting an ice cream cake as well. I am having t-shirts printed up to look like the ones we received in our kit. I am picking up toy trucks for all the little kids. I am getting a remote control semi as a door prize. A friend and I made up a trivia game to play before we watch the sneek peek. Whoever gets the most right gets a $50 gas gift card and a new cooler! I am getting my uncle to bring his semi over so the kids can climb around in there and have their pictures taken behind the wheel and get to go for a ride!
