A quick way to freshen up cabinets is to give them a really good cleaning, then replace the handles & hinges with new ones. New curtains & new paint can really help a tired looking kitchen on a small budget.

I wallpapered and painted. I got new curtains and a new table. The old table was just a plain old blond wood with 4 matching chairs the new is a black dining nook. We went from pastel colors like sea green and pink to red and black! What a drastic change but it looks so good. I also changed all the light switches, outlets, and covers which really made the kitchen look new.

We got lots of great ideas and feedback on what to do with our kitchen. We started with what was most important to us - a new Kenmore stove. It was just delivered today and already makes the kitchen look better. We really enjoyed cooking our first dinner with it this evening.

I went with a granite sink. It is black. The color scheme overall is black, tan, creme, and burgundy. I am trying to incorporate dark cherry colored woods into things along with lots of plant life, add on the new fridge, stove, dishwasher, and flooring. We have ran into a problem getting in the floor. We found a week spot when we took up the old wood floor and now all heck has broke loose. It seems as though my makeover is taking WAY longer than expected!

We have decided on the paint color for the kitchen. We still haven't made a final decision for the knobs for the drawers and cabinets but have it narrowed down to 3 choices. We have also picked out the blinds for the kitchen and dining room. As soon as the budget will let us we plan on getting all new Kenmore appliances but since ours are all only 1 year old we have decided to wait on that for a while. But we do have the appliances picked out that we want. This is so fun! Scott has really enjoyed this Houseparty... by far the best one yet for the guys!!

We installed a new backsplash with metal tiles and painted the walls with an eggshell paint. Installed a new faucet and soap dispenser. I would have loved new appliances but I just can't afford the right now. I also bought new curtains, placemats and other things to enhance the look. Thank you Kenmore and Houseparty for all the great ideas.
