Questions to be considering now:

  • What should I serve?
  • Should I ask my friends to bring favorite dishes?
  • How am I going to decorate? Should I go for a “legal theme?”
  • What activities should I plan before and after the sneak-peek DVD?
  • What “extras” will make the party more fun?

I am having desert 'bars' for snacks and having guests bring appetizers. I plann to play games with the silly laws. Everyone will also receive one of the huge Hershey bars with a set of coasters as a gift.

I would have liked plates that matched, rather than the coasters.

I love the idea of a guilty/innocent dessert bar. I will also be stealing that one.

Main course wise we are having a BBQ - chicken and macaroni salad.

As for the favors.... I printed out the laws and the 'meet the cast' sheet and plan on having those out for everyone to read as the evening progresses.

I was not overly impressed with the party bag... coasters/cups and napkins... but I still think we will have a great night of it watching the new show.

So, I decided that the dessert bar will be divided into two sections. One side will have healthy stuff like fresh fruit cups, angelfood cake, etc.~(innocent treats) The other side will have chocolate fondue, cheesecakes, etc.~(Guilty pleasures)

Thanks for the paddle idea. That's awesome. We are having cocktail party type aps but I really like the taco bar idea, too. I'm hanging up the silly laws at each 'station' so people have something to look over while hanging out at the food tables. And then will have a little contest to see if anyone can guess whether certain laws really exsist or if I just made them up. Prize bag for the best guessers.

I was picked for hosting this party, but I had a problem finding the invite site. I had people wanting to come, but I have yet to receive my party package! I had to cancel my party. I sent out all the invites by my personal e-mail and by mouth. We were all disappointed not to be able to participate.

I plan to do the legal shows guess this theme song, have all kinds of "bars" to eat and drink at, and of course to watch the show! My guests aren't that into the games, so we'll spend most of the time just hanging out eating, drinking, and talking about the show and house party!!

Well I have decided to play a game of knowledge. I have been writing out questions from a legal glossary. I will divide my guests into TWO GROUPS.
Then the first group to buzz in get to answer.
The group that gets to 25 points wins.

Here is an example:

What is ALIMONY?

Sparehair, the silly laws page wouldn't play nice for me with FF. I used IE for that page and it worked fine.

I decided because it is so hot to do a Mediteranean vegetarian theme--salad, pita, hummos, veggies, etc.

We are doing a best apptizer theme. We will have a judge to pick the winner and each entrant will acts as their own counsel and argue for their ap.

My husband made trophies for the winners and we even have a frind that volunteered to act as the press and interview the winning lawyer.

As a follow up we are sending out a "Law Review" as a thank you - just a quick newsletter type thing with pictures and recipes from the party, but set up as a law review magazine.

Sometimes HP sends more than one box per party. I've never heard of any parties with a package like this one, so I think there might be another box on the way.

We are going with the bar theme. Taco bar, desert bar, drink bar. The desert bar is going to have bar deserts like lemon bars, chocolate carmel bars etc. I can't wait!!

Some of the silly laws would make for a fun charades/pictionary/cranium create type of game. Would have to have props around that would fit. I can see this as a lot of fun after a few cocktails!

I am planning on having a who dunit BBQ. Everyone will get a hint of a crime and have to guess who dun it. I will leave clues around and as they mingle and eat will have to guess who is the guilty party. I will pick one of them to be the guilty party, except they won't know till the end!

It's so funny that you mention the pretzel rod for the handle. That was my first idea, but then I decided that it wouldn't match the chocolate and if I dipped the entire rod in chocolate it would be too messy to eat.

I plan on doing either the bar theme with a taco bar, snack bar, sandwich bar, and dessert bar; or playing on the title raising the bar by doing bar snacks, but making them fancier. I have a popcorn recipe with melted almond bark on it -delicious!, and some fancy dips I could try. Love the gavel idea. What about a rod pretzel for the handle?

aflann...I love your game of assigning each guest a crime he/she most likely would commit & everyone vote guilty/not guilty.... I'm guilty of stealing this idea!!

Im thinking asking everyone to bring a "finger-food" type of dish so this way, we all can munch in front of the TV...

Everyone's been asked to come in attire appropriate for court - it'll be interesting to see what everyone wears..

As for activities & games...I'm going to assign each guest a crime he/she most likely would commit and everyone will vote guilty or not guilty...

Extras...hmm...we'll probably play poker after the show. I should think about prizes to give away...
