Your party is just a couple of weeks away. All across the country hosts are planning their Fisher-Price® Play Date House parties. Here are some questions to consider as you begin your preparations:

  • How am I going to decorate?
  • What food and drinks am I going to serve for the kids? for the moms?
  • How will I organize playing with the Fisher-Price toys?
  • What other activities should I include for kids and moms?
  • What “extras” will help create a totally kid-friendly atmosphere?
  • Do I have extra batteries on hand for the toys?

thanks for all the great comments! I've got a 33 week old and there are some "older" kids coming. I wasn't sure what kind of food to feed them, but I think I will go with the goldfish and cheerios. I'll probably have a small table for kids to look at soft books and a table with the ABC's party favor -is it okay to leave the walking kids by themselves to color? I'm afraid they'll swallow a crayon.

I am keeping it pretty simple because I am hosting the party at my moms house. It will be after lunch, so we will have finger foods for both adults and kiddos and drinks for both of course. Going to set the toys in a circle so that all of the kids can walk around and play with everything. All of the little ones are about the same age so it should be interesting. I am going to hand out the goody bags at the begining so that if one of the kids gets left off of one of the big toys, they will have other stuff to play with.

Okay, I finally figured out what to do about goodie bags!! I have over 30 children coming, of different ages, and it was not feasible to spend $7 per child to buy a FP toy identical to those provided. So, my solution is to have one FP provided gift bag per FAMILY then I bought the most adorable party favor gift boxes in the wedding section of party city. They are clear with pink organza ribbons and tags, and I'm filling them with M&Ms and mini marshmallows, one per person! That way everyone gets a little something, plus each family gets the whole House Party goodie bag. I'm so happy to finally have a nice solution!!

I am doing my party after lunch, so will have finger foods and drinks. (non-alcoholic of course!)

I am doing goodie bags for the little ones and a grown-up goodie bag for the moms with candles, body wash, etc. Good for relaxation after baby goes to bed at night.

My decorations are going to be minimal, since I don't want the crawlers to chew on balloons, etc.

We are super excited around here!

Got my first package with the gift bags today - I'm so excited I put them all together right away! I'm planning on decorating in bold primary colors and serving "finger foods" like Cheerioes, graham crackers, and goldfish for the babies (all are under 2) and a party sub from Jimmy Johns with a fruit bowl for the adults. I also plan on serving cup cakes decorated with Fisher Price logo - my son's first b-day is on the 4th so this is perfect timing!!! Oh, and I plan on raffling off one of the big toys by filling a bottle or jar with Cheerios and having everyone guess how many are in it and whoever is closest will win...can't wait to get the toys!!!

Whoo hoo! We are going to go with a polka dot theme. When you start looking, there are polka dots everywhere. I'm thinking of decorating cupcakes (made out of a healthier carrot cake) with little Fisher Price toys. I still don't know for sure what I am going to do with the party favors since most of my little guests don't color yet. I might get the Take n' Toss containers and fill them up with goldfish crackers.

I went to the party store today and bought some rainforest plates/napkins and tablecloth because my daughter's room and babystuff are all from the FP Rainforest collection. I also found a 12 pack of little sunglasses that go along w/ the rainforest theme. I have two 6 yr olds coming, so I have to decide what to do for them. Can't wait for the party!

Oh how exciting!! Only a week and a half away. I have red and blue balloons, lots of snacks (crackers, cheese, fresh fruit, and juice) for the kids since it is an afternoon party. I haven't quite decided what to serve the adults yet. I have activity books and an interactive game for the older kids that will be present. Everyday I think of something new, I just can't wait for the fun to begin!!

Well I'm already to go, and can't wait to party all day. I went shopping today and got lots of food, drinks, and decorations. I still haven't got an e-mail about my package yet so just wondering if anyone else hasn't either. Lots of guests that can't wait to try out these toys so they can get some Christmas ideas. I really hope I get them on time.

I am having the party after lunch, so I am going to do lots of snacks, such as spinach dip, chips, goldfish for the kids.
I am not sure exactly how I am going to divvy up the toys yet. I may just put the goody bags out and let the moms choose.
I can not wait!

I'm going to keep it pretty simple. Bright primary colors for the table cloth/plates/napkins/etc. Fruit salad, cheese and crackers, and spinach/artichoke dip, plus some goldfish and animal crackers. And I'm going to buy some extra little toys for the goody bags - maybe roll-a-rounds balls, little people, or little cars - and some little snack bags too with animal crackers.

We have some Dads too, so I think I'll buy some beer and chips and have those upstairs by the tv. I'm sure my husband will put on some kind of sporting event. I think there's college football that day.

I'll have to see when the toys are here and I have my final guest list whether I want to give out the FP toys randomly or based on ages. If it works out that I can give the younger ones beads and the older ones cars, I'll probably do that.

I was just going to put the toys in the bag and let the moms grab like that they don't know which toy and I won't either. I am going to put a small piece of tape to pince the top closed. If the moms wantto trade toys than they can.

I would love to share it with you all, but it is a word document and I can't figure out how to get it on my party page...I'll let you knowif I figure it out.

For our party we are doing a monkey theme, from the Amazing Animals line. I will be making a monkey cake, and decorating with a monkey theme. I will have monkey kites for the little ones to take home. I also have a friend coming that does animal balloons so she will make different ones for the kids using the Amazing Animal line as a reference. The food will be sandwich platters for the adults. The kids will get animal shaped butter noodles and fruit chunks. I will also make cereal coated bananas to go along with the monkey theme. After the party pack arrives I will decide how many extra goodies I will need to pick up for the gift bags. I will add a box of Animal Crackers and a fruit snack. The boys are so excited about this and so our our guests. I cant wait until the package comes and Party Day arrives

I love the idea of putting the "little people" on the cake! :) Instead of balloons I am going to get those punchy balloon type things, less easy to pop and swallow. Most of the children coming to my party are <2 so I am going to have baby/toddler snacks and treats for mom/dad.

I have lots of balloons and streamers to put up. (Leftover from many birthdays) I bought colorful plates and tableware and I have made a kids music cd that I plan on not only playing during the party, but also giving copies in the gift bags. I also found some great $1 board books for babies on www.bookcloseouts.com. I have ordered them, and if they arrive in time I plan on putting those in the goodie bags too.

For snacks, I am going with kid friendly foods....goldfish, crackers, fruit, veggies, puffs etc. I am making salsa (with chips), wings, pepperoni rolls, and artichoke spinach dip for the mommies. I will probably just have water, sodas, and juice to drink.

I plan on hooking the pony up to the big flat screen in our family room. I am putting the other toys in our library (it is a large open room with a soft rug in the middle). I figured the kids can go wherever they want and the mommies can follow or hang out in the kitchen snacking. My oldest daughter has kindly offered to help supervise the babies and play some simple games with them.

We're doing a simple party. It's at 3, so after naps and lunch, but just right for snacks. I'm planning on some gerber snacks, goldfish, graham crackers, for the babies and spinach dip and fruit tray for the moms. We'll do a fisher price cake too. Most of the moms are leaving their older kids at home with the dads, so we'll be enjoying one on one time with the babies. I'm planning on having the toys laid out in our living room with the pony connected to the tv in the family room so the moms can wander and play and talk to each other. I'll decorate with balloons hanging from the ceiling and streamers too. Our babies are too little to really do any activities other than play with the toys. I'll have the party bags filled with the favors from house party, and maybe some additional favors if I can find some good books to share.

I actually thinking I wont be decorating too much. Less for kids to get into. Since I am having my party around 6 I am going to do a buffet style dinner that is super easy. I am also going to try to do favor bags specifically for a child and based on their age. I dont think the 4 year old coming is going to like to play with the Rock N Stack. In addition, I am going to raffle off the toys. I am so excited and I have had such a great response to the whole shin dig. I hope I can get picked as a host again for other parties. This has created such a buzz!!

I've got all my decorations and food planned, I just need to go get the rest of my stuff. I'm going to put up ballons and streamers in the house. I have ordered a veggie/fruit tray and I'm making mini sandwiches and servinf chips and crackers as well.
I also need to print off more FP sheets and buy a small pack of crayons for each child that can draw.
Luckily, I caught a big sale on batteries a few months ago and I'm stocked up. We are excited for the party!
