Reminder: Xbox LIVE Goes Live Today

From the New Xbox Experience House Party Event

Are you ready? 

It’s easy to be tuned in and hooked up:

  • Make sure your Xbox is connected to the Internet and you have set up your Xbox LIVE Gold membership
  • Turn on your Xbox 360 which should connect to Xbox LIVE and notify you of a system update.  Accept the update.

I really liked the Netflix streaming. We watched a movie on the tv, while the kids watched a movie on the dvd player in the back yard:)

I loved it..I wasn't sure it would be "my thing" but my husband and kids pushed me to participate and I have to say I absolutely love it. The avatars are great..We had a great family day.

This is great. Xbox and Netflix make a great team! We've been considering Netflix for awhile and the convenience of getting the movies through the Xbox makes Netflix even MORE attractive. btw....Netflix was VERY helpful in getting us connected properly. Thank you HouseParty! And thanks for the surprise!!!!

We can't wait, we've had everything set up since the morning of the update and my husband has been messing with the avatars ever since. Our party is Friday night since we have other plans on Saturday. We are having pizza, popcorn, movies and games, games, games.

My husband updated it and it went very smooth, we were already XBOX Live members and Netflix members so all we had to do was the update part. But THEN my husband showed our 3 year old the Monster Machines series on it so my 3 year old now has a really nice huge flat panel HD tv :( I want my TV back!

We had the same problem setting up netflix. We figured out you need a router to be able to do it. My husband had to do it at work while I was at home to get the setup with netflix done on the XBox. Movie selection isn't the greatest. We are a little dissapointed with the choices. Can't wait to try the whole thing out. I agree it wouldn't be worth the price if they don't give you new release choices to view instantly. The Scene It game is really cool. We love the new controller.

OMGosh this is the most awesome thing EVER! I'm sure the library will expand once people start using it. I heard that Netflix will be doing the same thing with TIVO soon. It sure beats a trip to the video store--especially for the kids!

It took some time to get the setup right, but it's working now! Can't wait to try it. I agree that the selection of movies and TV series could be better, but it's cool to be able to select a movie from your computer and then watch it instantly on your TV.

The update went smoothly. Had a hard time setting up netflix because we had set up the xbox live account in my son's name as a teen. Teens can't order Netflix so we had to go online on the computer and setup Netflix. It works now though. The movies are a little disappointing as they are old. We will try it for awhile but if they don't get newer movies, it really won't be worth the pricw. Scene it looks so cool! Can't wait to play!

I am still having problems trying to get Netflix to work on mine. I got the internet hooked up, got the code, went to Netflix.com to enter it in and it says my code is expired and to get another one. I am so confused. Anybody else having problens? I have a house full of people coming on Saturday and I can't get it to work... At least we can play the scene it game and I can show everyone the cool avatars...

anyone know if you rent a movie useing your xbox points like a HD one. Hw long you get to keep it? Will it stay on you hard drive till you delete it or do you just get to watch it once?? Can't find any info on that.

haven't explored everything yet, but my kids and husband like the avatars. We got a movie (Karate Dog) and it seems like a bad picture quality, even my 6yr old said it was blury. I'm also not really thrilled with the choices of movies to get instantly, they are mostly old or we've already seen them. I'm still looking forward to having friends over.

We updated our xbox last night and had a lot of fun playing Scent it! It is a Great family game! We did unfortunately have problems with netflix. We are being told we are not eligible for the 2 week free trial since we were PREVIOUS netflix members! Hope to get it worked out before the party!

We got prepared last night: updated our system, my husband talked to his brother who is in Seattle through Xbox, checked what's new in the Marketplace, watched movie... It is amazing!!! I love that it is in HD!!!!

We are loving our Scene It game! My husband and I have been playing it every night since it arrived - it's way too fun!

However, we are sort of in the same boat where we have had a Netflix subscription before too. I also wish that they would have provided a way to still get the free trial for those of us who have had it before.

Our update went smooth. I already had a netflix account and it automatically added the watch instantly to my account and my son was able to watch a movie on his xbox!! cool!!! Him and his friends are going to have a blast on Saturday night!!

I like the new setup but it seems to load a lot slower than the old one. Couldn't get downloads to work earlier today. Maybe just too many people on?

And... ugh. I can't get a free Netflix trial because I've had Netflix before. Guess I'll have to go get a prepaid credit card just to set up to throw my party. I wish they had just sent us some kind of code for a month of Netflix.
