Hard to believe, but May 19th is just a few weeks away. Hosts across the country are planning their Ford American Idol house parties right now.

To help you organize your preparations consider these questions:

  • What should I serve? What can I ask my guests to bring?
  • Should I use a theme for the dishes?
  • How should I decorate?
  • What other activities should I plan?
  • What extra touches will make the party more fun?

We're casting votes, playing "Name that American Idol" (as I play their songs) and "Idol Trivia." My prizes are great! I can't wait!

Thanks for all the extra ideas! Since it's during the week, I've made my party very kid friendly so all our friends can bring the kiddies. The pool is ready, grill is set, got the Cokes waiting to be chilled. Food, Friends, Fun & a FORD! Ahh, an all american event.

I want things to be easy as possible so I can just sit back and enjoy the show. I'm going to be using those cookie cutters to make little rice krispy treat cars, and the other one will be used to make AI cookies. I dyed the dough blue and will decorate with light blue/white frosting.

I'm pretty much going to be doing finger foods. originally i was planning to make it themed depending on which contestants made it to the finale, but that might be too much work. I'm doing lettuce wraps, eggrolls, breaded mushrooms, warm spinach dip, and deviled eggs cuz they're crowd pleasers and easy to do!

Were we supposed to have enough party favors for all of our guests? I only got enough for half the number who RSVPd.

Week nights are a very busy time for our house-a little of this and a little of that is planned for our party. You bring a little of this and I will bring a little of that! One activity I have planned is to bake sugar cookies the night before and let party goers decorate their "own" Ford Fusion. How much fun will that be? Everyone loves a good cookie-even the little ones can get involved with that idea. Ford has called, hope to hear more soon.

I got my call from the folks at Ford last night. They asked me the screener questions and said they'd be in touch with a dealership and get back with me. So we shall see! And you do not have to call your local Ford dealership, you can email House Party if you have any questions about Ford contacting you.

Easy way to wow all the guests with dessert....

Strawberry Shortcake
2 or 3 layer white cake (from box mix) I baked mine in a sheet pan.
cool whip and frozen strawberries mixed
cool whip and fresh strawberries for topping...
Just layer the cake with strawberry cool whip mixture then top with cool whip and strawberries... It's super easy and a real crowd pleaser! Works best if you freeze the cakes a few hours before icing them so it's all nice and cold. Refrigerate.

I had someone from Ford call ME today. I didn't have to call THEM. They asked questions that I'm pretty sure i already answered online, like what cars i currently have, what kind of place the party will be held, any special things about the party they should know about, how many people will be there, etc. I'm sure they wanna place the cars at the best parties.

Didn't realize that I would need to contact my local Ford Dealership, but will be doing that tomorrow. Also going to try to rent out a local building that would be better suited to the bigger crowd and it has a big screen tv. I am so excited, I hope they let me show off the car. Thanks for all the party ideas. I have so many people coming and voting for me, but they are getting so confused on the rsvp's. Is there anyway I can show that they are coming without them going thru all the questions online?

I'm thinking of chips and dip and hamburgers. I will probably make some brownies. I like the cupcakes ideal. I can't wait to get the party package full of goodies. I'm waiting for a call back regarding getting a Ford Fusion for my Idol party.

I havent gotten a call about the car yet but I am hoping to have one here. I love the idea about cut outs. I plan to go get decorations to put outside our house and some for inside and then we are having a cook out with tons of food and family and friends over. This is my first party and it is fun trying to plan these things. I will be making some phone calls later and see what else I can get for the party.

Plan on contacting Coke tomorrow to see what I can get! Planning on about 50 guests, karoake, and a ton of fun! Still deciding what to do for food. Anyone know whats in the party package yet? This is the first party I've done and have no clue what to expect...

Getting the car at the party is up to your local Ford dealer. I got a phone call a few days ago saying that they were working on getting a car to the party. You should get a call soon.

Thanks for everyone's great ideas. My guests are asking me if we really get a Ford Fusion to sit in front of the house during the event? Is that something PartyHouse does or something I must initiate? How many guests is everyone having? 10, 20, 30, 50+?
I didn't know about the cutouts so that's a fun idea! Thanks and have fun everyone!

I am very excited to be a Idol party host. We are having a karoake party and my husband has a 49 ford which will be parked next to the fusion. I love the idea of the cut outs-we are in Florida-I have to google a coke distribution center-maybe I will get lucky and have one near me. I am also going to contact our Ford dealer. Great Ideas

I never thought about contacting our local dealership with the good news!

Someone called me from Ford today to make arrangements for the 2010 Fusion for the party night and I missed the call! Boo hoo! They left an email address, so I'll see if they're working this weekend.

So exciting~!

We're doing poolside activities for the kids up until dinner time, which will be potluck secret recipe appetizers... Then, on to the show!!!

I am so excited! I located the local Ford dealership and told him about the party. He was so excited and offered to give all my guest Ford T shirts for the big event. I am still deciding on what to serve. Maybe have a BBQ or pizza.

I though about contacting our local paper about covering my party but I'm not sure if House Party would allow that sort of thing. I'll have to contact customer service.

I will be making all of the food...probably appetizers and finger foods. I'll supply the drinks and desserts, too. I plan on using some of the items that will be includded in the party pack as game prizes. I'm still thinking of games, though. lol

I would LOVE to get cardboard cutouts. Not sure where a local Coke distributor is around here.

I took a picture of my daughter the other day and she looks just like Kris Allen in this picture. It is too funny. I uploaded pictures to my party page. What do you think??? Think she could win a look-alike contest?? lol

Being from Arkansas we are huge Kris fans. I took the coke suggestion, and contacted our distribution plant to see if they have any extra cut outs that aren't being used!! I hope I can get my hands on some. Thanks for the suggestion!!!
