5 EASY STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL STAR WARS PREMIERE PARTY

Description:

What exactly qualifies as a party? According to Merriam-Webster Online, a party (aside from its political definitions) is quite simply “a social gathering.”  A mere three-word explanation for what surely must be one of man’s (probably woman’s) greatest creations.

 Step 1:  INVITATIONS

Your invitation sets the tone of the party. Make it fun and clever. Come up with an appropriate title something like "Admit one to a special premiere of "The Clone Wars'. Create your invite using clip art that resembles a movie ticket. Write party details on the back. You can find fun clipart for free on http://www.clipartxp.com., http://www.freegraphics.com/ http://www.artvex.com/, http://www.coolarchive.com/icons.php & http://clip-art.kaboose.com/clip-art/  send email invites, two good sites are www.sendomatic.com and www.evite.com. Preprinted invites can be run through your own printer adding detailed information to them.

Step 2:  FOOD

Get creative and whip up some Skywalker Salsa and chips, galactic party punch, yoda soda (be sure it's green), oatmeal Wookie cookies and top  it off with a homemade sheet cake decorated with Star War's action figures on top.

For the parents, serve the Bourbon Slush posted earlier(thank you) and  appetizers such as spinach dip in hollowed out hawaiian bread with the bread alongside to spread dip on. and brushetta, a little garlic, olive oil, fresh tomatoes and whatever you fancy ie. olives, feta cheese, pile it on french bread sections and watch it disappear.

Step 3: Decorations

Imaginative party decorations can be created on a shoestring of a budget. There are many unique ideas when you have a theme.

  • Welcome guests by rolling out a red carpet leading into the house. Paint a large box red and white stripes so that it resembles a gigantic popcorn container, fill it with yellow and white balloons to look like popcorn.
  • Kinda late for this but we ordered a customized banner with our family name in a marquee style and "Star Wars" "The Clone Wars' written on it, it looks nice. one could make a "bannner" easily.
  • Remember it is a "private screening" and play on that theme.
  • We decorated our "lemonade stand" Star Wars style to serve drinks from.
  • Outside I will just fill my metal bucket with ice and fruity drinks.
  • The posters provided are a good decoration

Step 4: Entertainment

Obviously the DVD is key, you may want to plan more activities to keep your guests happy.  Hand a few guests disposible cameras and ask them to be designated photographers, kids take amazing pictures!  Make your music CD!

Pin the Light Sabor on Yoda, same as the old favorite. make a light sabor, tack up a picture of yoda or whichever character, spin em around and give the children plenty of area to try and stick on the light sabor to his hand.

Light Saber Training Course
Before the party make some light sabers with foam pipe insulation or skinny "swimming noodles", Wrap 4-6 inches from the end with colored electrical tape to make a handle. One red, one black, blue etc.
To play, divide the kids into teams to go through a challenge course.
Each team will get one "Light Saber". Create tasks for each potential
Jedi to accomplish (not too hard) with the light saber in hand.
For example:
Hit ping pong balls with the light saber
Crawl under a chair tunnel, go down a slide,
Roll under a tarp
Pop bubbles with the light saber -- you get the idea.

and.................

Alien Face Painting
Purchase a set of face paints and give each guest a unique alien “look.”
Let each child make up an alien name for himself or create a few of your own and let the kids draw names randomly. Use movie names or your own, such as “Zork,” “Murblap,” or “Gondar,

lastly............

Asteroid Hunt
Purchase small treats or gifts and wrap them in aluminum foil.
Hide them in a sandbox, around the house or in the yard.
At the party, let the children dig in the sand, or search throughout
your “planet” to find their “moon rocks.”  The kids will love the excitement of opening their rocks and finding treasures!

 Step 5: Party Favors

At the end of this fantastic party - thank each guest by giving them their treat bag. Houseparty and Cartoon Network did a bang up job with the treats, it sounds like everyone added more goodies.

Here's to a fun out of this world party - may the force be with ya'all!

GREAT ideas! We are doing pigs in a blanket but making them light sabers...we will be having Star Wars relays in the yard and we will be doing the "pin the tail game" too. My boys are so psyched about their party. Thanks for all of the great tips!
